Student Body Awareness

By Isabelle Thompson

Whether it’s intentional or not, teenagers have a tendency to constantly compare themselves to one another, adding to the disillusionment of the ideal body type. In a society where “sex sells,” somewhere along the line, we have added the component of self-esteem to that bargain when our bodies do not meet the “desired look.” Learning to love each and every state of our bodies is essential in redefining the quintessential ideal body type and building a healthier relationship with our own bodies.

NHS Fashion Show:
A Night Around the World

By Isabelle Thompson and Lily Munsee

Novato High leadership students took charge earlier this month, to pull off one of the school’s most anticipated fundraisers: the fashion show. Despite the stressful preparation process and a few mishaps, the Old Gym was transformed into a glamorous runway that hosted a variety of students and parents for an unforgettable, around-the-world themed event. After years of NHS fashion shows dating back to 1989, this year’s marked Novato High’s final extravaganza due to the imbalance of work it takes to the amount of money raised.

International Interactions

By Isabelle Thompson

There is simply nothing like it. Venturing to a place of unfamiliarity is a learning experience that transcends classroom teachings and encourages us to embrace diversity and challenge personal truths. In this way, by broadening our comfort zones, we are allowing the world to leave its fingerprint on our beliefs. This can shape our way of life and illuminate cultural awareness, leading the way to a more accepting and respectful world.
